We were starving. Alibaba is an Indian restaurant specialising in Tandoori-food style cooking. You might be wondering why we’d have Indian cuisine while in Thailand. The reason is twofold. Not only did it have a good reputation, it has a funny memory associated with it. More on that later.
We ordered:
- Tandoori chicken
- papadom
- Raita (vegetable)
- Naan (butter)
- Naan (peshwari)
- Chicken 65
- Tandoori lamb chops (2 serves)
- Butter chicken
- Saag chicken
- Mughlai fish curry
Sooo goood! Probably the best I’ve had.
So, what about that funny story. Don’t let this put you off going. My mates had nicknamed the place “Basil”, from the old TV show “Basil Brush” that featured a character that was a rat.
The story goes when they visited previously, a rat jumped out of a decorative bush near the table. Landed on my friend’s lap, jumped off and disappeared into the kitchen.
